Nichyria Byrd

"Running to the Next Level"

Nichyria Byrd is a 17 year old senior at Ogden International School of Chicago. She has become such an outstanding person as well as an amazing athlete. Nichyria plays volleyball, basketball,and she runs track; all while maintaining a B average in school.

Before becoming an accomplished athlete, Nichyria had problems with her self-esteem and confidence.  At 11 years old she joined a program called Girls On The Run, which is a program for young girls looking to improve their self-esteem. Joining this program helped Nichyria become morw confident in herself, and it helped her become who she is today.

Nichyria has had many accomplishments.  At age 11,  Nichyria  receieved the First Ever Frosted Flakes Youth Achievement award. She also recieved a HomeTown hero award from Lt.Governer Patt Quinn. While a Junior in High school, Nichyria won the Illinois State title for class 1A in Triple Jump. Today, Nichyria has become the seventh best triple jumper in the Nation recognized by USATF.

Nichyria is proud of everything that she has accomplished and she is looking forward what the future has in store for her.
